Cyber Security & Computer Engineering Technology

The Ministry of Communications, Ghana with the support of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) began a process in 2011 to review Ghana’s ICT for accelerated Development (ICT4AD) policy document to include recent developments in ICTs that were not originally included in the document.

Cyber Security, as well as Software Engineering Technology, are integral components of the four thematic areas under this review.
The department has thought-provoking, modern and marketable programmes that have synchronized meshed academic knowledge and industrial practice and demand.

It is geared towards a full blend of the academic knowledge acquired in the lecture room using modern, cutting-edge technology and tools to resolve the numerous challenges confronting us as a people to enhance industrial and socio-economic advancement. DCSCET offers you the opportunity to learn and be exposed to the real-life of work by making industrial attachment and taking up of projects per identified challenges a must.

The Department intends to be the center of excellence in providing a diverse range of skills and competencies that are both discipline-specific and job-related.

Graduates of the department are expected to be job creators and not job seekers as a result of the practical knowledge that will be given out in lectures, practical industrial projects, and supervised mandatory industrial attachment. This will subsequently lead to more growth and prosperity for the student, the region, Ghana, and the world at large.

The Department of Cyber Security and Computer Engineering Technology is under the School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS). It is a new department created in 2020 to provide modern programmes to speed up the technological drive of Ghana.

The Department currently runs BSc. degrees in Cyber and Information Security, Software Engineering Technology and Diplomas in Cyber and Information Security, and Software Engineering Technology.
